The 'Alexander Mountain Fire' was a human caused wildfire. It burned over 9,668 acres in Larimer County, Colorado destroying 26 homes, damaging four others and destroyed 21 outbuildings. The fire was started on July 29, 2024. A 49-year-old Loveland man was later charged with starting the fire. I spent several days documenting and capturing the wildfire. It was quite an experience to witness and be able to capture. Despite the horrific damages and negative impacts brought by wildfires, they can increase the mineralization rate of organic matter, making more nutrients available for plant life and improve soil structure.
